Benefits Advisement

SILO recognizes that the following Benefits Advisement services are needed to assist individuals in understanding the impact of their income and assets on their state and federal benefits.

Individuals are provided a comprehensive consultation on the range of benefit programs such as:

• Supplemental Security Income, SSI

•  Social Security Disability Insurance, SSDI

•  Medicaid

•  Medicare

The Benefits Advisor reviews other benefits commonly received by individuals such as:

• Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, TANF

• Home Energy Assistance Program, HEAP

• Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, SNAP

• Housing

• Childcare needs

• Health Insurance through NYS DOH Marketplace

• Unemployment

• Workman’s Compensation

• NYS Temporary Disability

Each of these benefit programs have criteria for initial or continued coverage.
This service provides the individual with information and tools necessary to make informed choices towards their goal of self- sufficiency and financial well-being.
